Dear God,
Sometimes it is hard to keep faith. It is hard to trust so deeply and see our situation remain the same. Yet, faith is what you offer us during hard times, uncertain times and confusing times.
Learning to trust in every situation is a challenge but not one we can afford to miss. This morning I listened to Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German theologian, who quietly and calmly trusted in Christ as he awaited his own hanging by the Nazis. A devout Christian, amazing sufferer with great hope in the Hope of the World and witness to the amazing grace of Almighty God, Dietrich sang the sweet praises of the One in whom he trusted.
I felt conviction as I listened to this devoted man willing to risk all for the good of others. Why am I impatient when a man of faith was patient facing his own death? What kept him grounded while I fly around over something so small by comparison?
Keep my feet
to the
spiritual ground,
O God.
Make me
a witness
to your
saving grace.
Rid me
of fear,
anxiety and anger
but more importantly,
a lack
of faith.
Make me
your own
as I, too,
learn how
to keep faith.
Love, Andrea
