Dear God,
The test of faith is not what happens to us but how we deal with what happens to us. Recently I found myself saying to someone else, "Faith either works or it does not." That does not mean everything will work out exactly as we hope but rather how faithful we are to our trust in you, our desire to seek and follow your will and our ability to change, shift or alter how we see, how we feel and how we choose to act.
I must confess my faith has been tested so much recently. I am so disgusted by what is happening in Washington D C. I am embarrassed and humiliated by our so-called president who does an excellent job representing himself and not, for the most part, the American people. I am disappointed in a church who seeks to make itself feel good rather than the poor, the dispossessed and the lost. I am disturbed by an insurance company who takes premiums but does not pay for things natural to pay for. In other words there are many situations where I find myself tempted to scream, cry, moan, complain and gripe. Yet, you, O Lord, challenge me to rise above it all and trust you.
I want
to be faithful,
dear God.
I want
to do
your will.
I want
to follow you.
Please help me.
Love always, Andrea
