Dear God,

Why do we hold back?  Why do we stop ourselves from fully giving ourselves to you and others?
Why do we work so hard to protect ourselves from those things that make us feel insecure, vulnerable and fragile?  Why do we lack such trust in you and our own self?

Every morning I listen to the saints as they share their lives of faith through their writings.  I hear their deep devotion, their willingness to suffer for faith's sake and their ability to give more and more to you.  I am amazed and awestruck by such love and devotion.  Could I ever love you that much?

Lead me,
Lord,
lead me
to the pool
of living water.
Help me
drink deep
and long.
Refresh my
dry, weary cells
so I
may find
spiritual refreshment
to feed
my soul
so I
may try again
to trust
you more.
