Dear God,
My book was published today. I picked it up and brought it home. A gift for family and friends, you brought this idea to me a year ago when a beloved friend read a devotion on a Christmas ornament. I was inspired so I began to write stories of my own ornaments from near and far, cheap and expensive, some even homemade.
What I discovered in writing, Lord, was how faith resides in each bauble not because they may be bright and shiny, but because faith is the reason I have the season. Faith is why I put up a tree and spend so much time making it ready to receive Christ once again. Faith calls me to crawl up into the attic and bring down boxes and boxes of Christmas decorations. Faith cries out for music, music of faith. In fact my husband asked me today why I wasn't listening to my usual Christmas music. I told him this year I was listening to the music of the spirit inside where God sings. Faith reminds me to live differently, uniquely in your spirit. Faith is Christmas to me, every bit of it.
Holy God,
thank you
for the beauty
of this
wondrous season.
Thank you
for calling me
to faith.
Thank you
for quietly
leading me
to you.
Love always, Andrea
