Dear God,
Surprises await me on the spiritual path. While I dig, prune, clear, clean and plant, I find new discoveries, a wildflower, a heart stone or an unusual stand of ferns. Each and every time you fill me with wonder, joy and gratitude.
This morning Susan, my gardening friend, cut limbs, plucked weeds around a large noxious plant and pulled small branches when she jumped and scampered away. She called to me and I carefully walked down the steep hill. There tucked away from the heat of the day was a small, beautifully woven bird's nest. I stepped over to the amazing gift and saw three tiny sleeping birds. Concerned they may be afraid, I spoke to them. I offered them love and compassion and affirmation. A little later I watched as they awakened and held up their teeny beaks waiting for a mother's love to feed them.
For over a decade I have worked the land as I listened to your gentle, small voice telling me where to work. Together we have uncovered so many treasures, way too many to mention but you know them, Lord, because you put them there. Each time I am filled with love for you and blessed by the gem or gems that lay before me. Only you, Gracious and Loving God, provide such wonders!
Thank you,
Father Creation,
for the beauty
of your world.
Who could paint
such amazing,
exquisite scenes?
Thank you
for calling me
for such
a high purpose.
Love, Andrea
