Dearest God,
From seeds grow trees. From trees grow fruit. From fruit grows faith.
As the first pickers of Bartlett pears at MacDougal Orchard, I couldn't help but think of your creative hand in the process. As we picked a bushel for home canning, I thought of how juicy and flavorful the fruit will be when I open a jar this winter.
As a home canner, I marvel at your work. Even the drive to the orchard or farm inspires me to think of you, to give thanks and to feel a great sense of joy as I pick fruits and vegetables tended to and loved by farmers. As I can the luscious fruit of your hands and later give many away to family and friends, I think of your love canned in each jar and I think, "How marvelous, O God, is the work of your hand!"
Thank you
for seeds
that lead
to fruit
that lead
to faith.
Thank you
for the gifts
of your creation.
Thank you
for today,
for the
beautiful pears
and the
simple faith.
Love always, Andrea
