Dear God,

How do we follow the way of love when our spirit calls for revenge?  How do we take hold of your hand when we want to take our hand and do harm to all those who have harmed so many?  How do we let you carve darkness out of our hearts in order to let the light in?

I feel outrage, deep sorrow and incredible pain regarding the takeover of our nation's capitol!  I despise all the evil that incited this horror to take place!  I hate all who follow the way of evil to do harm!  Yet, your son calls me to love.  How, O Lord, do I learn to love all that I hate?

Help me,

help us,

O God,

to let you

disperse the darkness

from our minds,

hearts and souls.

Help us surrender

the darkness

to take hold

of the light.

O God,

heal our nation,

heal our hurt,

heal the broken hearted,

I pray.
