Dear God,

Today I erased one of my favorite aunts from my Christmas card list.  I also dropped her name from my prayer list.  Why?  I conducted her memorial service the first of January.  I felt sad to see the two "holes."

You give us the gift of family.  You weave them into the fabric of our being.  When they die, we feel loss and sadness.  I feel both.  At the same time I feel loved, cherished because you gave me Aunt Jodie.  At 92 she was ready for eternity.  As I think about her now, I am exceedingly grateful she was my aunt.  She gave so much. 

Daily you gently remind us to give thanks for the gifts and blessings in life.  When we really reflect upon life, we discover just how blessed we are.  I will always be grateful for Aunt Jodie, always.
