Dear God,

This morning as part of my morning devotions I read the resurrection story from the book of John.  Resurrection, yes, I remember Jesus' resurrection.  For 21 years every Easter morning we read the story once again and I always loved it.  Generally, I do not read it in October but I am glad I did.

When I contemplate the story and the word, I think of the power of resurrection for every day living.  If we are doubtful and hurting in the morning, resurrection can lift us up and give us hope.  If we are lost and can't find our way, resurrection can point to a new direction.  If we find ourselves in a hole of darkness, resurrection can take us into the light.  How many times has this happened to me?  More times than I can possibly count.

When I think of resurrection, I think of you, Gracious, Loving God, and your desire to resurrect us from situations that are harmful, frightening, anxiety-producing, hopeless and difficult.  Your power to resurrect can transform us, renew us and make us new.

Thank you,
dearest God,
for the gift
of resurrection,
yours and ours.
Lead us
to resurrection
in every day life.
Then point us
to you
with prayers
of thanksgiving.

Love always, Andrea
