Dear God,

Today my husband had a heart catheterization.  Doctors spent an hour looking at his heart before he has a new aortic valve replacement next week.  They wanted to be sure his quadruple bypass from ten years ago is still working.

That made me wonder about my own heart.  Questions come.  Does my heart reveal my love for you and others?  Is my heart working right?  Am I being motivated to do everything my heart tells me to do?  What does my heart hold?  

Although I don't need heart surgery, I may need a heart "fix."  I may need an adjustment to the ways and means I love or don't love others.  I may need to use my heart more often.   It just may be possible my husband's heart surgery is a call to me to tune up my own heart.

Holy God,

Heart Helper,

cleanse my heart

of any

leftover messy debris.

Soften my heart

toward others.

Open every valve

so I

may love

more deeply.
