Dear God,

How long will evil spread in our nation?  How long will the most powerful leader in our nation spread his evil lies, evil ways and evil policies?  How long will evil have its own way?

It is not about being a sore loser, one political party winning over another.  It is about humanity.  When hatred is the way one leads, people die in so many ways.  Grief, anger, frustration, loss and bewilderment are rampant in our society.  It seems everyone has lost something.  

Although I do not see love winning this battle right now, I know it will sometime, maybe in tiny pockets, in families, in friendships, in neighborhoods, soup kitchens or troubled spaces.  I believe love is overcoming evil when I feel led to join the movement of love I see taking place in the grocery story, the rest park, the protest, around the corner and down the street.  In order for love to win the war, I must step forward and be love to others, not easy but rewarding, fulfilling and promising for a future of love for all of us.

Lead us

to love,

Merciful God.

We desperately

need you

and your love.

May we witness

your love

at work.

May your love

inspire our love

to grow

for our neighbor,

the stranger,

the foreigner,

the marginalized,

even the

hateful one.

May it

be so,

O God,

may it

be so.
