Dearest God,
Your hand moved mightily today! What seemed impossible was made possible. What seemed hopeless was not at all. What seemed immovable really has moving parts.
Estrangement is sadly an old friend. For years there was so much estrangement in my family, members pitted against each other crying "Foul". Resentment got a foothold in many lives. Blame, judgement, and bitterness ruled the days, weeks, months, and years. Truly it seemed as though nothing would change and yet, through a small change, a slight crack in the structure, your light shone through warming hearts marking the path toward healing. God in heaven, how good it felt. My whole family came back together. We were made new.
Today another chapter unfolded in my husband's estranged family. Our grandson and his new wife arrived to celebrate their honeymoon in our town, two days on their own and five days with us. After dinner when we were walking out our grandson put his arm around my back and waist, squeezed me, and told me we could not imagine how happy he was to be reunited with us. He smiled real big and breathed a sigh of relief.
As I reveled in the joy of reunion I realized nothing good happens without you. And nothing bad happens without us. As we trust you more and more, the possibility for transformation becomes more and more evident and that's when we recognize just how powerful grace is.
God of Eternal Reunions,
thank you
for gifts
of healing,
hope, and happiness.
Thank you
for your power
that wills us
to allow you
to help us
move toward
one another.
Forgive us
when we
stubbornly refuse
to follow you
and your direction
in our lives.
Each day
draw us close.
Please keep us
in your
loving embrace.
Show us
the way
to you
so we
may find
the way
to one another.
Love, Andrea
