Dear God,

Yesterday we said goodbye to our grandson and his new wife.  Like little children we ran alongside the car waving and smiling, already missing them after spending a week with them celebrating their honeymoon.

This was no ordinary vacation, not because it was a honeymoon, but because it was a miracle.  For years we were separated from one another through a series of strange happenings.  We were held back by jealousy, resentment, sorrow, disappointment, and bitterness.  But  you moved in and changed things.

During our time together we shared our heartfelt thoughts, appreciation, faith, and love.  We filled in some of the blanks, helping to make sense of what had happened to us.  We spoke the truth which always sets us free.  We opened ourselves to one another in new ways not like an adult to a child or a grandparent to a grandchild, but rather as caring adults.  We recognized your spirit blowing in our direction bringing with it
a new kind of reality, a new kind of hope, and a new kind of peace, a spirit peace.

Generous God,
so full
of grace,
mercy, and compassion,
thank you
for your
many gifts.
Thank you
for blessing us
with the gift
of your spirit.
Thank you
for comforting us
in our time
of loss
and renewing us
in your time
of miracle.

Love, Andrea
