Dear God,
You work in mysterious ways constantly reminding us your eye is upon us. You know us, how we are, what we are doing or failing to do. You know our hearts. You know what we think.
There are so many ways in which you surprise me. I will suddenly find myself doing something that relates to something you want me to do. It will seemingly have no connection but then I become aware just how closely related they are.
For example, right now I am digging up and cutting out stumps in the woods. As I tangle with the roots, I think about some of the entangling roots in my own life. I may only have a thread of a particular root left but that one root can wreak havoc in my life. And so you are reminding me to clear out the debris and the unsightly and potentially destructive roots in my heart, mind, and soul so you can do something beautiful within and around me. Although the roots in the woods have long tentacles often connecting to something else, still you can work miracles in nature and the human soul to create beauty.
Thank you,
Wondrous God,
for love
that embraces us
even when
we are not
always lovable.
Teach us
the way
to truth,
faith, and love,
I pray.
Always, Andrea
