Dear God,

Advent is a time when you call us to clear out and clean up our souls.  You want us to wait, to prepare, and to make ready the time of the visitation of our Lord.  You want pure souls whose love for you outweighs our bent to sinning.  You know this meeting can be sweet, full of joy and blessed.  You want to give us this wondrous gift.

I am convinced yearly Advent, Christmas and Epiphany are necessary for Christian living  You know our habits, those ways of being that drag us or others down.  You know we do not always live the best we can in our spiritual and emotional lives.  This season of the year calls for something better, something pure and beautiful.

As we make ready for your coming into our homes, help us make preparation for your coming into our hearts, minds and souls.  Make us ready for you.

Holy God,
blessed are you.
Blessed are
your ways.
Blessed are you
for reminding us
to clear out
all debris
that stands
as an obstacle
to your coming.
Thank you
for every gift
of the season.
