Dear God,

This year like never before there are holes in my prayers.  When someone leaves, moving from the earthly existence to the heavenly realm, a hole forms in my prayer.  First, it was Aunt Caroline, then my nephew Jason and now our friend Eric.  What do I do, O Lord?

I continue to pray but those I prayed for who have traveled forward without me, leave me with a hole.  I realize you don't want me to fill the hole but rather move, shift, and make space for change.  You expect me to rely on you to reshape my prayer life, to pause and listen where holes have formed.  You want me to turn to you, to see where to go next.

Holes keep me closer to you, Living God.  They are meant to be.  Life, love and even prayer are supposed to change when someone leaves us.

Thank you
for your
loving presence
in our lives.
Thank you
for placing people
in our lives
and in
our prayers.
Thank you
for mercy
that holds us
when we change.

Love, Andrea
