Dear God,
We never have to look far to find you in our midst. One scan of the horizon can lift us to heaven.
This morning as I sat down to write I looked on my desk where a funny child dressed up in a Christmas tree ornament sits, a gift from a friend wrongly charged with a crime she did not commit. I see a small tree branch where wire, beads, sequins, and tiny baubles are woven, a symbol of creation made by a Catholic sister at a retreat center. I find a gold and white blown glass paperweight, a wedding gift from members of my first church. At one time or many, these people brought me to you. I find you in each small piece of art a sign of your living presence.
At times we look for you to appear in the sky or the road before us. We want big signs telling us you are with us. But like the ancients so long ago we learn it is in the ordinary objects before us where faith waits to speak.
Holy God.
how good
you are
to bring
your presence
to us.
Thank you
for the blessing
that comes
when we
find you
once again
living with us.
Thank you
for Diane,
the sisters of Providence,
and the Antrims,
all who
brought me
to you.
Love, Andrea
