Dear God,

As I look out over my contemplative garden, I see how overgrown my garden has become.  After years of growing, becoming more and more beautiful, some of it has just grown too tall, too wide and too much.  It needs to be severely pruned, dug up and replaced or transplanted.  It will require a lot of work.

So it probably is with my soul.  When I am attentive to you, really listening, I hear your voice usually with a challenge.  I am positive I too need a severe pruning.  I need an uprooting making space for something new.  I need work.

Loving God,
thank you
for reminders
of work
still needing
to be done.
Thank you
for challenges
to rid ourselves
of clutter,
debris, weeds,
and the need
of being
cut back.
Help us surrender
to the
gentle knife
of faith.

Love, Andrea
