Dear God,

The way to hope is you, O God.  The way to climb out of despair is trust, trust in the One who made us, trust in the One whose love for us never wanes, trust in the One whose compassion is never-ending, and whose investment is the greatest of all time.

When we cling to you and trust you to help us, there is a sense of relief that we are not alone in carrying our burden.  You take off some of the pressure.  You infuse us with a sense of hope that may seem tiny in the beginning but grows and swells the more we trust in you.  We dare to take steps into the future not quite sure where the path will take us but we do know who will allow us to walk with him.

One of the flaws of faith is asking you to be with us.  Our desire should be walking with you.  The person who needs to move is us.  When I need hope I need to move to your side not ask you to move to mine.  I should want to be where you are instead of the other way around.  When I make faith about me doing the moving, me taking the action, me trusting in the One who will help, the more my faith will be active, always seeking the Living Presence whose life is the one I want.  I cannot expect you to do all the work of faith; I must do my part and walk with you.

Blessed God,
thank you
for your
loving kindness.
Thank you
for inviting us
into your
holy world.
Thank you
for showing us
the way
to hope.
You are
the way,
O God,
the way
to all good.

Love, Andrea
