Dear God,

They finally took down the five dead trees.  Long gone and now an eyesore, the workers climbed the trees and began cutting.  By the end of the day they were down, debris carried to burn pile and logs cut for our favorite carpenter.  After grinding the stumps it seemed as if the trees were never there.

Someone once said we all have a "shelf life."  The trees gave their all, reaching for the sky for as long as they could and then one day they simply stopped living.  We do that too, sometimes, don't we, Lord?  We just give up and stop.

But you give life, Creator God, you give life and hope and growth.  You breathe new life into us and give us ample space to blossom.  As I consider the trees now departed, I am grateful for the new look and the chance to give new life to the space left behind.  So interesting how dead trees can talk and teach.

Thank you
for insights
and wisdom,
O Holy One.
You gift us
with so much
every day.
Thank you
for the chance
to learn
and grow.

Love, Andrea
