Dear God,
Waiting is not a time to do nothing; it is a time for trusting. When big issues come and sometimes trials with it, you call us to come to you first, not to act on impulse. If your answer is to wait, it simply means to build our trust in you knowing you know better. But waiting does not mean we paralyze in place, we go on, keep functioning but also praying, contemplating and acting as people of faith.
Waiting brings with it patience, insight and discernment. When acting quickly without reflection and thought, we can expand our troubles. As we wait in trust, we breathe in your mercy and tenderness toward us. When our answer comes, we have much for which to give thanks.
Merciful God,
you fill us
with your love.
You whisper
your promises
made so
long ago.
You teach us
the value
of waiting,
giving us gifts
along the way.
Thank you.
Love, Andrea
