Dear God,
Over and over again the word "gratitude" whispers to me. What is faith, I ask myself, if it is not grounded in gratitude?
I am constantly reminded of gifts, blessings and unexpected graces. As morning light comes and I view my own backyard with Autumn colors, my heart wells up with appreciation, wonder and thanks. I feel thanksgiving in the whole of my being. The air I breathe is yours, a gift from on high. Pictures of my family sitting on my desk cause me to give thanks for my family.
As I read Ann Voskamp's book on gratitude, I begin to see once again that gifts come all day long. The color and presence of Monarch butterflies touches me just as anticipating a family wedding later today that will give me opportunity to see those I have not seen for years. When I focus on all you give, my heart swells more and my faith grows. These alone give me pause to pray prayers of thanksgiving.
Thank you,
Loving God,
for gratitude
that rises
in my soul.
Thank you
for giving me awareness
of gifts
and blessings.
I am indeed blessed.
Thank you.
Love, Andrea
