Dear God,

Already the work of Autumn is doing its awesome task in my soul.  Fall is a time of transition, a true time of change.  No denying it, the leaves are dying, the tree is readying to shed its leaves.  Before long every flower and tree will be barren.  But the work of seeds, plants and trees will begin anew.

My soul is also crying out for change.  In recent days devotional writers have tugged at my heart, mind and spirit.  I need to let go too.  I need to get ready for what is coming.  I need to listen and follow your instructions like all of nature.  Only by listening and doing Autumn's work in my heart can I experience the fullness of life.  I want to do it because you are calling me to this transition time of change and transformation.  The best is yet to come.

Holy and Loving God,

thank you

for reminding us

that nothing

remains the same.

Teach us again

the need

for change,

sometimes radical change.

Make the whole

of myself

be open

to your call.
