Dear God,
Every morning I sit with St. Teresa of Avila, St. Bernadette and Ignatius of Loyola. As I listen to their plight, their questions and longings, I realize again the power of faith. As they faced both their own inner turmoil and the cultural beginnings of their time, I hear your voice calling to me to trust more, to deepen my faith and to follow your will. But it is hard.
Events all around us suggest we can find clarity, answers to our prayers and power to make decisions and actions by following our own will and way. If others just believed what I believe and behaved like I behave, all would be well kind of thinking. While some piece of that may be true, much more is not. Your will and way always open more doors and windows to life in the spirit and in the world. There is more compassion and wisdom in your will and way. There is more love.
As I quiet my own mind and soul and give attention to the saints, I find my energy and desire to follow a better way. I am so grateful.
Holy Father,
you are God;
there is none
like you.
Help us
listen for
your voice
in the midst
of the darkness
and chaos.
Then help us
long for you
and what
you want
for all
of us,
I pray.
Love, Andrea
