Dear God,

As I drove out of the pharmacy, I looked up into the early-morning, dark sky and I began to sing, "Starry, starry night...".  That's all I remember of the song from long ago; however, what I do remember is that brilliant stars in the midst of a dark sky are a reminder of your radiant light in the world.  Reminders of your living presence.

We often forget you are in our midst.  We do not look for you.  We do not anticipate your presence among us.  We miss it.  We miss you.

But then all of a sudden, while doing some small thing like going for a flu shot at CVS, you remind us of your presence in all our lives, even my own.  Such unexpected gifts so early in the morning remind us too of your generosity.  You speak to us in the darkness.  You bring light to our own personal and communal darkness.  How can we ever adequately express our thanks to you, O God?

Holy, Loving God,
thank you
for the gifts
of starry nights
and radiant light.
Thank you
for constant reminders
of your love.
Thank you
for a
flu shot
that took me
to you.

Love, Andrea
