Dear God,

I've been cleaning a 200-year-old basement in our small Victorian Home.  I've been sweeping the low, hand-hewn ceiling beams.  Amid coughing and wiping my eyes of dusty debris, I've wondered how much crud like this resides in my own soul.  Am I this dirty and dusty?  Do I have cobwebs in my corners?  Do I need a deep cleaning?

Funny how daily tasks can surprise us with spiritual and emotional questions.  Yet, they are important because we need daily/weekly/monthly/yearly assessments of our human lives.  We need to know where we stand.  If we wait too long (like my basement) we can go way off track.

Although this cleaning is not my favorite, I am grateful for the reminder, the challenge and the charge to clean up my own life.  Thank you.

Blessed are you,
Compassionate God.
Thank you
for gentle reminders
of faith.
Teach us
your ways
through daily tasks.
Help us
find you.

Love, Andrea
