Dear God,

Worship, what is it really?  Today as I worshipped by zoom, I realized worship was more than just tuning in to Second Presbyterian Church.  Spending an hour in worship provides so much more than sitting in a pew with like-minded people praying, singing, standing, sitting, greeting one another and fellowshipping.

Worship is a time to dwell in your living presence.  It is a time to proclaim our faith, our beliefs and to reaffirm our trust in you.  Not only that, but it also offers opportunity to release our fears and doubts, to breathe in hope and to find strength for daily living.  More importantly, it is time to say thank you.  Our presence is a statement of faith and an appreciation for all you have done, are doing and will do in our daily lives.  We express our gratitude because we know much of what significantly happens in our lives is beyond our own ability to say and do and be and be about.  Your work in our lives shows up when we really pause and reflect.  Saying thank you is perhaps the most important thing we are about in worship.

Holy God,
thank you
for the blessings
of worship,
of faith
and love.
Thank you
for the chance
to say
thank you,
thank you,
thank you.
What better place
to give thanks
than in
the very Church
you created.

Love, Andrea
