Dear God,

Advent...that wondrous, mysterious time of the year when we pause, reflect, and prepare ourselves for the annual great meeting of the savior.  You do this for us, O Lord.  Suddenly, it is the first day of Advent and we stop and think, "It's that time of the year again, that holy time directing us back to a young maiden who meets the angel that challenges her to carry the light into the world's darkness."  The days become more and more holy as we wade through our own darkness into your glorious light.

Something can happen during Advent.  Our hearts can be changed.  Our minds can clear.  Our souls can be filled with the goodness of heaven.  You do this for us, Lord.

I always need a shift about this time every year, Lord, don't I?  My expectations get me into trouble and I find myself wanting once again.  Where does true love come from, Great God?  It comes from you.  There is no deeper love than yours.  Along Advent's path, we stumble only to find the light shining bright upon us.  And love, who offers more?  No one, only you, yes, Lord, only you.  You do this for us.

Bless you,
Holy Father,
for your gifts.
Bring Jesus
to us
once again,
we pray.
Shine your light
so we
may find you
again.

Love always, Andrea
