Dear God,
You created the mountains, the ocean and rivers, the atmosphere, forests and humans. With all that power and love for every detail of creation, why would we think you do not exist or imagine you have no power?
So often we operate as if we are gods of the universe. We use our human power to uproot the value of others. We tear down instead of build up. We injure, hurt and wound others. We destroy communities, nations and the world. Yes, we have power but even power was created by you.
In his sermon today, our pastor Chris Henry prayed, "Lord, please repair what we have broken." Hours later I am still remembering that line. We have broken and torn down so much of what you have created, Compassionate God. We have failed to love and lift up. When left to our own human devices, we rip apart that which is good. Please forgive us.
You are
the only
real power,
Almighty God.
Your mercy,
love and
tender care
for repair
everything we
have destroyed.
Give us love
first for you
and then
one another,
I pray.
Love, Andrea
