Dear God,

The way of life is the truth of life.  The only way can be truth.  I believe this because Jesus said, "You will know the truth and the truth will set you free."  The truth leads to freedom, hope and peace.

In our world today we struggle to make truth out of what we hear.  We try to make sense of truth.  Yet, when words are spoken and it feels incongruent, it is not truth.  Although there are those who pass off untruths as truth, we have to dig for truth to find our way to freedom.

It is tragedy and sin to offer anything but the truth especially as a leader.  Our words, our person and our practice of life need always to be centered on truth.  We must insist upon it or become a follower of lies that over time will lead to ever greater tragedy.  We should always desire truth above all else.

Compassionate God,

help us discover

the truth

and live it.

Help us be

the truth.

Lead us away

from lies

and manipulation

that strangle

and destroy.

Lead us

to the truth

that frees,

releases and restores,

I pray.
